August 2026 Open Reading Period

Roadside Press will open for submissions in August. Due to the high volume of manuscripts received last year, submissions during this reading period will require a reading fee of $24.95 per manuscript which will include a copy of Roadside Assistance: A Roadside Press Reader.

Writers who already own the anthology may submit their manuscript with proof of purchase in place of the fee.

Roadside Press operates without grant or institutional funding. Our staff is volunteer. This new model helps us manage volume while supporting future titles and keeping the press sustainable.

A limited number of fee waivers are available for marginalized writers experiencing financial hardship. If the cost presents a barrier, please reach out to roadsidepress01@gmail.com

At this time, we are only accepting submissions from U.S.-based authors.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Accepting all genres. Please familiarize yourself with our current offerings and pitch us your book!

We are looking for full-length manuscripts and chapbooks. minimum page count 14, no max.

Whether you are a new author or have been previously published, Roadside Press would like to hear from you. The review process can take up to four weeks. We will contact you once a decision has been reached. Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Please notify immediately on acceptance elsewhere.

WHAT TO SEND
Include a cover letter in your submission with your name (and pseudonym if applicable), your email address, a short bio, and a synopsis not to exceed 500 words. You will also need to include a copy of your full manuscript and proof of reading fee payment.

TERMS OF PUBLICATION
Payment:  Upon a minimum sale of 7 books during the pre-sale, Author shall be entitled to receive free copies of each edition: at least 5 print copies of the hardcover (if applicable), 15 copies of the paperback edition. In addition, Publisher will provide Author with a copy of a final, typeset proof of the Work in electronic (for e.g., PDF or Word) format.

In the event there is not a minimum of 7 books sold during the pre-sale, Author shall be entitled to receive free copies of each edition: at least 1 copy of the hardcover (if applicable), 5 copies of the paperback edition.

Author may purchase additional copies for personal use and for sales in connection with Author’s speaking engagements at half the cover price plus shipping.

Publisher shall pay Author the following royalties on each copy of the paperback edition sold by Publisher through regular wholesale and retail channels: 10% of the list price.
